Ingredients

  • 6 cups apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 package cinnamon rolls with icing, refrigerated

Equipment

  • 9-inch pie dish
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Mix until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Unroll the cinnamon rolls and press them into the bottom and up the sides of the pie dish to form a crust. Reserve the icing for later use.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the cinnamon roll crust, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  6. Allow the pie to cool for at least 30 minutes. Drizzle the reserved icing over the top before serving.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a crisper crust, pre-bake the cinnamon roll crust for 10 minutes before adding the filling.
• Avoid overmixing the apple filling to prevent it from becoming too mushy.
• Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
Food Safety:
• Ensure apples are thoroughly washed before peeling and slicing.
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator and consume within 3 days.
