Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Knife
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread about 16 inches long
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese grated, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt until well combined.
  • Slice the French bread lengthwise, keeping the two halves connected at the bottom. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  • If using, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the buttered bread.
  • Place the bread on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the butter is bubbling.
  • Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a softer texture, wrap the bread in foil before baking.
• Avoid using pre-minced garlic from a jar, as it can be too strong and watery.
• Serve with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
Food Safety:
• Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
• Reheat in a 350°F oven for best results.
