Equipment

  • Instant Pot
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring spoons
  • Measuring cup

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio recommended
  • 1 cup beef broth low-sodium preferred
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  • Turn on the Instant Pot and select the 'Sauté' function. Add the olive oil and let it heat up for about 1 minute.
  • Add the ground beef to the pot, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  • Once the beef is browned, add the beef broth, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried oregano. Stir to combine.
  • Secure the lid on the Instant Pot and set the valve to 'Sealing'. Select the 'Pressure Cook' or 'Manual' setting and set the timer for 5 minutes at high pressure.
  • After the cooking time is complete, perform a quick release by carefully turning the valve to 'Venting'. Once the pressure is fully released, open the lid.
  • Stir the ground beef to ensure it's evenly coated with the cooking liquid. If desired, use a slotted spoon to transfer the beef to a serving dish, leaving excess liquid behind.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a leaner version, use 90/10 ground beef, but you may need to add a bit more broth to prevent sticking.
• Avoid over-stirring the beef during sautéing to prevent it from becoming too dense.
• Serve with rice or use in tacos, burritos, or pasta dishes for versatile meal options.
Food Safety:
• Ensure ground beef reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for food safety.
• Store cooked ground beef in the refrigerator within 2 hours of cooking.
