Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or aluminum foil
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 head broccoli cut into florets
  • 2 tbsp olive oil extra virgin preferred
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 clove garlic minced, optional
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice freshly squeezed, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  • In a large bowl, toss the broccoli florets with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated. If using, add the minced garlic and toss again.
  • Spread the broccoli in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Ensure the florets are not overcrowded to allow for even roasting.
  • Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges of the broccoli are crispy and slightly browned. Toss the broccoli halfway through cooking to ensure even browning.
  • Remove from the oven and, if desired, drizzle with lemon juice for a fresh zing. Serve immediately.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For extra crispiness, try broiling the broccoli for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking.
• Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet to prevent steaming instead of roasting.
• Serve roasted broccoli as a side dish or toss it into salads, pasta, or grain bowls for added flavor and nutrition.
Food Safety:
• Ensure broccoli is cooked to an internal temperature of at least 165°F (74°C) if consuming hot.
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator within two hours of cooking.
